What can you not pour down a Quincy kitchen drain?
Cooking fat, bacon grease, and oil. Quincy's Water, Sewer and Drain Division bans all three from the sewer, and it fines homeowners who pour them in. So even with a new sink or disposal, greasy pans need a wipe first. Walbridge Construction offers kitchen remodeling to Quincy homeowners, with financing available. We are a veteran-owned contractor based in Hull.
How do Quincy kitchen permits work?
A kitchen with a moved wall, a new sink, and a gas range touches three permits: building, plumbing, and gas. Quincy takes building, plumbing, and gas applications online through ViewPoint. We file the building permit and line up the licensed plumber and gas fitter, who file the plumbing and gas permits.
The Building Department's checklist also lists two forms. One is an Owners Affidavit of Final Construction Cost, a signed form stating what the job cost. The other is a Worker's Compensation Affidavit.
Have a question before you apply? The Inspectional Services Department holds a free homeowner permit clinic every Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at 55 Sea Street. No appointment is needed.
Is my Quincy home in a flood zone or historic district?
Check both. Some Quincy streets sit in the Floodplain Overlay District, which follows the Norfolk County flood map dated July 8, 2025. Any change to a building there needs a permit. Homes in the historic district need the Quincy Historical Commission's sign-off on most outside changes, called a Certificate of Appropriateness. Check these before the plan is final. Our kitchen remodeling page covers the rest of the job.

Who does kitchen remodeling near me in Quincy?
Walbridge Construction, based in Hull, offers kitchen remodeling in Quincy. We go over the city's grease rule and your gas or electric range choice with you before the plan is set. As a licensed and insured builder, we give free estimates. For our other Quincy services, see the Quincy page, or call (857) 326-7157.
How big is the fine for grease in a Quincy kitchen sink?
$1,000 the first time. Quincy's residential fines for cooking fat, bacon grease, or oil in the sewer are $1,000 for a first offense, $2,500 for a second, and $5,000 for a third or later one. Scrape pans into the trash, not the sink. Ask about it during your free estimate visit.
Will a gas range work in my Quincy kitchen?
Yes, if gas already comes into your house. Most Quincy homes, 54.4 percent, heat with utility gas, so a gas range can be a short run off an existing line. Electric heat comes next at 29.6 percent, and a lot of those houses may lack a gas line. In those homes, induction or an electric range can be easier. Check which you have before you buy a stove.
